They're not expensive at all and they do look kinda nice. Look in Walmart or Petsmart. They are a nice alternative to the real thing without having the need for proper lighting to survive.

added 23 lbs of rock last night. not live rock but someday it will be. i started to feel my tank was a little under dressed for this group. i will try to take a picture of my "fake" coral in between my soon to be live rock.. looks like a reef to me and my wife is happy ...thats all that matters.

I have seen some of the newer synthetics that look quite good. I have always kinda quietly mocked the idea of it till I saw a seahorse tank with the the resin corals, no more scratching or danger to the livestock. FO is also a good nitch use. But like everything else in this hobby, if you like it then screw what others think. Build your own world your way.

I agree, over the years, I've figured out that as long as the wife is happy, I can keep adding stuff to the tank.....and if you like the way the tank looks and the livestock is healthy, your home free.....
