have any of you made any?Like plastic or styro foam?
here's my idea.Make some little fake plastic or styrofoam rocks.Paint them and put magnets on them. Then put them on the back of the tank.Kinda like shelves.
Plastic?
Styrofoam?
paint?

eh, it would probably look BAD. i guess once it was covered in coralline, maybe but... i would still be worried about leaching.

I was thinking of using some of those styrofoam squares at walmart.Shaping them and then coating them in something aquarium safe?

I have seen the fake rock that you can buy... but maybe it would work
Try it and tell us how it worked out for you

I was thinking it would look cool. Then i would have something to place corals on and it would free up a bit of space.

I don't think that will work... You could make a mold from styrofoam and make it out of concrete that would work...

Im affraid concrete would be to heavy for the magnets.I've saw were people made stuff for other tanks online but not sure if they were saltwater?

Maybe plaster?
The whole point was to use the free space on back of the tank.Without pilling a bunch of rock on it?

You could make the basic shape out of styro then coat it with a thin layer or aragocrete (DIY rock mix). The bouyancy of the styro would balance out the density of the aragocrete. It would look just like live rock and grow coralline and corals just like it.
Just make sure the magnets or metal you embed in the styro has a good epoxy coating so it doesn't corrode.

Pond liner foam would probably work, using eggcrate as a backing. I'm not sure of brands, but some people use it to completely cover the back wall of their tank. Once the coraline grows over it nobody knows the difference. You could also put some live rock rubble in it as well.
