False or a True Percula

What would you get a False or a True Clowns one??? (yes i know not real name)
as LFS don't' know when there false ones will come but they will be getting True ones next week..
what is the better way to go????
someone told me price is the issue.. but how much diff we talking about. and will we see a different if we get them.. live long, more healthy???

Ocellaris grow about an inch longer and swim around a LOT more than Percula.
Percula are better suited for smaller tanks.
The price difference is insignificant unless you're into the exotics.

the ocellaris clownfish is the false clown...
Percula is the true clown....
its really easy to tell the difference....
the True Perc is a much more brighter orange then that of an ocellaris...
the black around the true perc is much more bolder and when it matures the black in between the white stripes of the fish sort of fill up....
easiest way?
the top fin... the one sort of behind its head...
the True perc has no black outline there...
whereas the Ocellaris(false) does have a black outline there.
Ocellaris are way easier to take care of..... but IMO the true perc is by far the best looking
i have a few pics of my True Perc ill post them.....
ive gotten it a friend since but havent taken any new pics...
on the first pic... see how theres no black line on the first top fin?
hes about shorter then two inches... an inch and three quarters maybe.... the black is supposed to fill as they mature...

yeah, grab a true perc. for some reason (this could just be me) but when i look at a reef tank and i see false percs in it i think its cheap... the true percs give a little more classy look i think. its hard around here to find single true percs cuz everyone wants to sell pairs. but i grabbed one for $35 (it died later... stupid infection on its tail) I now have a juvenile true percula that is growing quite well. if you have the chance, get a small one, its fun to watch it grow.

i have kept both false and true percs. i agree, false percs are more active but true percs have better color. they are both on the same level of hardiness for me. this is my solution for the true percs lazyness- get it anyways and enjoy the color and then get another active fish and enjoy it going thourgh caves. lol

Lol nYgel, I always think the same thing when I see a tank with Ocellaris.

Can u mix a true with a false & be alright? One of my clowns is about twice the size of the other & much darker(brownish), but both have black outline on top fin.

I prefer the look of Ocellaris but Percula do have some size and behavior advantages. It's mostly a matter of personal preference.

So the Percula clown they sell on this site, SWF.com, is really a Ocellaris? It has the top fin outlined in black. Maybe they should change their description of it also cause it says that the Perc and the Ocellaris are the same thing. I'm looking to get a 2 percs sometime in the future, when I got the money.
