fans blowing in or out

when i put my mh lights in my canopy...should the fans blow in or out....i already have 2 blowing in.....thanks

I have one giong in one side the other side going out, but my hood came like that. If I built it myself, I woulda had them both face out. Maybe next time. :thinking:

If the plan is to get the heat out of the canopy - have them on top pulling the air up. (heat rises) Of course, if your canopy is completely open in back, the suction that the fans create isn't gonna be much. A closed canopy with small vents works better for the suction method.
Now - if your plan is to cool down the tank temperature, blowing on the surface of the water to raise the evaporation rate is your best bet.

the back of the canopy is open and the 2 fans i have are blowing in, its a 90 gallon and i'm losing about 2 gallons a day in evaperation....and i have a 6 inch clip fan in the sump if i need it to blow across the water, to cool water temp down...i guess at fist i could blow them out and if it gets to hot turn them around....since the back is open should i put them on the top or just vent the top, of the canopy, or do nothing to the top...thanks

thanks....i already have holes drilled in the side from where my fans were before they stopped working in my lights...and since i took it apart and made it a retro....i will look better with the fans there...thanks again

I have 2 about 1 and half inch fans blowing in onto my lights it has 5 openings for the air to go out 4 on top and 1 on the other end.
