fastest thing ive seen

hey everyone....well ive got my tank at work so i really dont get to see what happens when the lights go out....but last night i went in and there was this thing a little over half an inch swimming around so fast that i couldnt really even get a good look at it...from what i could tell it didnt even have and fins it was kinds squiggling around. ive never seen anything move around so fast..should i worry about this ?

Brislte worms are free swimming in one of their growth stages, and match your description pretty well. And I only see them at night.

Could be the larval stage of a bristol worm known as the Epitoke stage.

They will tend to eat surface algea and are fine, adult bristle worms will are a great part of the cleanup crew, eating fish waiste and uneaten food or dead animals. I am only concerned when they get quite large like 12 inches.
