Favites sp. on sand bed?

I bought a colony of favites a little bigger than a softball. I'm wondering if it can be put on the sand bed or if it needs to stay on/in the rock work.
Thanks

Either favia or favites can do well placed on the sand bed. To me yours appears to be some type of favia...favites share common walls between the corallites(polyps)...favia have seperate wall structures...but in either case it should do well on the sand bed. As a rule they tend to favor high levels of light so depending on your lighting you may need to place it higher...but with adaquate lighting it should do well on the sand bed.

They have seperate walls so I guess they're favia. Thanks for the info. What is adequate light? I have 4X65 PC over a 75 gal. Is that enough for me to move the coral to the sandbed.
