It would be illegal becasue you own the land not the reef. There are laws for this and you are allowed to take some stuff. Most places your only allowed so many of that species and most places dont allow taking of rock or corals.

Hey man, Thanks for the info. I'm aware of that and I would NEVER take Fish or reef out of the Beach in front of my Miami Property(or anywhere for that matter). I was more curious about the Specific Legality(lack their-of possibly) of taking some water out of the Ocean if I own the property.
I might consider a Dive looking for Fish but last time we where in Australia, I almost got stung by a Box-Jelly fish...ouch. I love the Ocean with all my beign and it scares the crap out of me(in the same respect)...hehehe.
Let's be honest, I'm quite the Tree-Hugger and no one owns the ocean. The planet would Thrive like nver before if WE fell off the face of it...eh.
Enough of My diatribe, I'd love to setup an Agressive FOWLRLS in my beach Bungaloo with real Ocean Water. Phospates levels would surely be higher then those found near reefs, but it would just be fish.
Peace

the hawaii laws are no more than 5gallons a day for live sand. "coral rubble" is ok(i still cant understand that one...seems broad to me), no hard corals, and with a collectors license you can get 5 fish a day. there are no fish licenses needed unless you plan on selling them. i like having the laws out here. keeps the ocean in the ocean. but i did :notsure:
:notsure: about it for a while. whats that called.............the better good.

No greater place than the GBR in Oz. Definitely spoiled me diving there.
Out of curiousity, how close to shore were you? The literature I've read and the dive guides I talked to all said that the Box Jellies weren't found on the reef.

Irish Salt- I guess you could dig a huge trench from the ocean up into your yard so when the tide come in the water would collect and a tide pool. Then it would be on your property lol.
When we went to gulf shores around 3 years ago. We found a jelly washed up on shore. Not sure what it was I wasnt even in to freshwater tanks at the time. Just a jelly it was dead though.
