Do it quite often as well,, ascending and descending, turbulence is the WORST part, STILL never get used to it. Sorry I cant be more of any help here and I might have made it worse.. Are you flying AMERICAN? If so there is a really cool piece on AMERICAN AIRLINES and how they maintain their planes and such, playing all the time on MSNBC.. and remember remember remember, MUCH MUCH safer than driving!

I hate flying in as much as it's a huge pain in the butt.
I almost always fly internationally because I support our offices overseas. It's an hour and a half to get to the airport, plus another 3-4 hours of goofing around at the airport just to get onto the plane, plus an 8-10 hour flight, so you're looking at 12-15 hours just to get to London, for example. Then going back is even worse because you have a headwind.
It doesn't really scare me, it just irritates me. Of course the last time I touched down over here we landed very, very hard and I just about had a heart attack.
Of course Europe also has nothing on TV.....

i dont care for the whole height dilema...but i went to costa rica and to idaho with no problems...going to jamaica this summer,lol,....as long as they are shorter flights and i am not packed in the plane...and i need that direct air, thats what helps me the best
everyone always says planes are so much safer, but in the event of a plane crash....the chances are very slim in making it...much better odds in making it on the road if in a crash

I love to fly. We usually fly out west every summer, and we just got back a few months ago from china. That was an interesting flight.

I used to hate flying but going back and forth from Pittsburgh to NYC right now for work I'm slowly learning to deal with it. One of my employees refuse to fly tho so they actually take a train

I don't mind it, except when going out of the country.
I made a trip down to Belieze, Central America and that was quite the journey. The airport was big enough to handle 2 large plans and a water main broke in the ceiling when I was waiting in line to get my luggage. Needless to say, half of the tiny airport was flooded and my luggage got wet.
But on the other hand, the flight wasn't too bad and I loved Belieze. Went S.C.U.B.A. diving for a week!!!

Although when flying back into the United States customs sucks!!!
Also, on a side note........how does everyone like their jobs that include flying frequently. Does it affect the family life too badly, is it fun traveling a lot and what line of work are you in??? Sales??? Not trying to get into your personal business just interested because I might be getting into a line of work like that when I graduate college in about a year.

You all are not making this sound nice. I am flying for the first time this comming summer. I am 28. I am flying from NY to NC in June. I am not scared, but maybe a little nervous, especially after reading this.

Just a thought...if you've never flown before, and you are already a little nervous about flying, why read a thread titled "fear of flying"??? lol, this just seems like self torture to me! truthfully, you have nothing to worry about. think of how many plane crashes you hear about in a year and all the automobile accidents you DON'T hear about. You have better chances flying than driving. and the only reason i don't like flying is i tend to get a little queasy and light headed. Chew some gum while you fly - it helps

I love flying and wish I could do it more these days; haven't flown for a few years.... I also really liked when I got to fly for work. The key is to find out what part of the flight you actually enjoy (there's got to be SOMETHING that you can find that's fun
) and really enjoy that part. My favorite part is going to the bar either before flights or during lay-overs. I don't get sloppy drunk, but a nice buzz sure makes flights fun.

I also like airports that have sushi bars, I think LAX and Atlanta are the only two I've found, and they might not even be there anymore, but still...

man was my trip a nightmare from start to finish. 6 hours on a plane, I wanted to run down the aisles and rip my hair out
