Feather duster help

I purchased a large feather duster that arrived on 11/25. By the 27th he had no crown left (heard that is usual). Kept seeing my fancy nassarius snails on him, and moved him higher. Now it looks like he has no face and just bobs in and out of his tube. Is he dying or can I save him? Please help fast.

First off, keep him in the sand as that is how he will build a tube. When they are stressed sometimes they will lose their crown like you mentioned. Just let him be and he will probably grow another one within the month. A pic would help though.

Wow...that's really freaky looking.
I have never actually seen one that doesn't have its crown. The one I have now has never shot it off. Anyhow, like I said I would put it back on the sand bed and let it be. I have mine in a fairly lighter flow area in the sand bed, fwiw.

One of mine blew its crown today, too. But I think I stressed it out messing around turning the tank to try and figure out where my peppermint shrimp got off to.
(which I found hiding in his cave later in the day like nothing was wrong... little snot)

Thanks, I will try the sand. I am just afraid of the other things picking on or eating it. He does move both day and night, but the face looks nothing like when he first lost his crown.
