Anybody know why a feather duster would squirm out of its tube. I bought it 10 days ago and yesterday I got home and saw it was on the sand bed out of the tube. It's an ugly sight. My water params are ok:
Ammonia 0 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate 15 ppm
pH 8.2
Alk. 4.5

The head or the whole worm?
It may not like the spot or could have been a ill one and died. Is it moving at all?

The whole worm is out of the tube. After I bought him, I propped him up in a hole in my live rock about 2 inches above the sand bed. Now the whole worm is on the bed while his tube is in the same location in the rock. He seems to be alive, his feathers are still open although he is now curled up. Salinity 1.023. Before this happened, he did not open out of the tube much during the previous 3-4 days. Any ideas?

They will leave their tube if they are stressed or do not like where they are placed. As long as you do not have something in your tank that will eat it and your water per. are fine it should rebuild a new tube.

I agree. Mine likes it on the bed and is in a large shell from the beach. Can you put something near it so it can feel more secure?
It mat attach to it also.
