feather duster question please help vey important!!!!!!!!!

i have a feather duster and i just noticed his top floating arond in my tank ..i also noticed that there is this web for lack of a better term with all these air bubble looking things on it .. my first thought was maybe it was reproducing but i also remembered that my sea urchin was buggen it yesterday and i do recall reading that feather dusters will pop there tops if overly stressed but would there be this web or am i just paranoid and it had babies .. any help would be greatly appreciated

I have read somewhere that they do that once in awhile. It's perfectly normal, and the crown will sooner or later grow back. Good luck.

My feather duster did this a week ago, and from my understanding, this is how they grow. Don't worry about it, if the tube starts falling apart it may be dying, but it probably will grow its "feathers" back in 2-4 weeks.

That is correct. They do eventually grow back. The best thing to check for is the firmness of the tube. While the worm is still alive, the tube should feel solid. When the worm dies, he sometimes will protrude out of the tube and the tube will become soft.

i have not noticed if the tube has gotten soft ..it still looks the same but i didnt take the top out yet cause it still looks like it is moving i am not sure if it alive or not .. what should i do <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />
