Feather Duster Question

I recently purchased a feather duster - he has 2 crowns --I think - it looks like 2 completely seperate feather dusters in one tube - but they go out and in at the same time, so not sure. Anyways, he is shedding his tube and creating a new one out of my ls. Do I need to remove the old case/tube? Is it just debris or will it cause a spike in my tank??
The old tube is still attached to him, but less and less each day.

If he sheds it completely, you can take it out. However, there may be something in your tank that would eat it. Do you have any hungry crabs or starfish?
If nothing eats it and you leave it in there, it may cause a slight elevation in ammonia.

Ok, thanks. It looks like he is 2 worms and creating 2 tubes now. . . the crabs are coming over and eating on his old tube - but he is still in part of it, I hope they dont kill him (them)
