I have had a feather for about 1 month and he is placed in between some rocks. He sticks out about 1 1/2 in. and opened beautifully until I was feeding him and I guess it startled him and his feathers popped off. He seems to like the plankton food I feed him because he comes out when I squirt it and spins his feathers. How long does it take for the feathers to grow back? And does he need to be on the sand? I was told it was okay to put him between rocks. He is in a lower flow area too. He seemed stressed at first then came out and seemed happy.
