Feather duster - repair time?

Cleaning substrate other day and accidentaly put vacuum on duster tube. Didn't totally squash it, but not far off.
The duster has since lost it's head. How long do they take to grow back?
It may well be dead, but how long before I assume this.
Also, is it ok to leave the seperated crown in tank or should I remove it.

Hello ive got a lot of exp. with feathers and may be able to help here.
1. the worm that lives inside the tube is brobably not dead. one way to find out for sure is to feel the tube. not hard mind you just to check if he is in there (he will probably move a bit if you feel him.)
2. it will be a while before he completly regrows but he probably will.
3. take out the crown (it will rot and effect your tank)
