It will filter feed fairly large particles form the water, but there is no need to feed it directly. Give it decent, broad flow (so that sways around nicely) and good lighting - and it will grow like a weed for you.

they don't get much from the light. so there food mostly comes from what they filter. i would add phytoplankton to the tank every now and then.
and yes there really easy to care for.

good advise so far :)
if you want to start having lots of frags drop off, i was told to have two kenyas in the tank full time. so far that advise has come to fruit about 40 kenya trees...

And if you have 8 or 9 huge colonies like some of us are unwise enough to do, well... you get the idea. I yank these things out like weeds nearly every day.

I have 2 mother colonies in my tank and I've trimmed off at least 60+ branches in the last 6 months. I am not sure if having more than one makes a difference though. The smaller one i have was a branch off the mother at one time. They both reproduce like crazy.
Back to your question... I have lots of light and i feed phyto $marine snow to the tank every other day. I would recommend the same; However, i don't know what the effects would be when you don't feed them phyto.

yeah I have about 30 babies in my 65g, I'm goofing around seeing how many I can attach to one rock. soon I am going to have to suspend the rock from a string so I can attach them to the underside and have a floating kenya ball.

Used to be me too. Finally got them all out, and will never get a kenya tree again. Grow and spread too fast, like weeds.

You can just put some in the tank and let it settle on its own, or you can target feed the trees, if you like. Honestly, I wouldn't get carried away with the phyto (or even add it at all, if this your only coral). Liquid foods can really wreck havoc on your parameters if you don't pay close attention and the trees will get all they need from standard aquarium operation and good lighting.
I should also mention, they can filter out pretty large particles including decent sized zoo plankton. Mine love baby brine, etc.

Yes, but just think how many frags you can sell once this coral is big and happy.

I suppose you should also think about how much time you'll spend removing them from various places in the tank.

I have a kenya tree and it is like 6 months old everyday I have new pieces that have fallen off and even some that have stuck to the glass. Luckily my lfs is willing to buy them from me so I can start weeding them out, no pun intended.
