Feeding a Niger Trigger

I recently got a young Niger trigger who is the sole member of my 75 gallon. He's been relativity shy but always comes out when he knows that it is feeding time. What I've been feeding him so far is frozen krill that I've defrosted, but I was wondering what else I should feed him because I tend to like to give my animals a varied diet so that they get better nutrition. If anyone knows any types of food I could either get at a LFS or a grocery store to feed him then I'd appreciate any advice.

I have always had good results with formula 1 and 2 as well a pieces of fresh shrimp , clam, muscles .
Great choices. I also feed squid, from the LFS, or seafood counter. IMO, the greens in FormII are good for all fish. This trigger will probably get much bolder in time, a great critter. BTW, I'd get in the habit of soaking food in a vitamin product, like Selcon as well.If you want to give the trigger a big thrill (when you're a fish, you get your thrills where you can); open a clean, fresh clam from the seafood counter and toss it in. He should go nuts, remove whats left when he loses interest, stuff decomposes quickly at 78 degrees.

No, I use Ocean Nutrition brand Formula I and II. II is a herbivore food, but all fish seem to love it. I use the frozen. It comes in flakes and pellets too.
Thats the stuff . It's my opinion that with the addition of formula 2 the colors seam a little bolder and more viberant . I also agree with feeding small pieces of squid soaked in vitamans .
The whole clam thing is good too .
Fun times . They go nuts .

a healthy trigger will eat just about anything. i like to vary the diet as much as possible. ocean nutricien is awesome...i use the marine cuisine flakes and the frozen green algea. i also feed frozen squid, mysis shrimp, frozen marine cuisine and plankton. watch when you hand feed these guys cuz they can take a nice chunk out of your finger. keep them well fed and they will leave your crabs alone...your snails on the other hand....their days may be numbered...although ive had one snail for over 2 years that has eluded my 2 triggers. its also a good idea to use a vitamin soak like selcon. i ocasionally soak a frozen cube of squid in some selcon or shrimp for my triggers for a treat.

I feed formula 1 and 2 also, with fresh chopped shrimp from the market. i also feed brine shrimp and trigger pellets, and a rare treat of feeder goldfish.
they will eat just about anything you put in the tank.
