true, but i do have lots of pods, do you know if they eat algae. i only heard before that they only pods.
anyone know how to train my scooter to eat frozen foods? "sleeper" above mentioned that he did it...if you are on, sleeper, i would appreciate it if you could share your secret, as well as anyone else who has done it.

Well if there is a sufficient population of pods in the tank you may not have a problem. Keep an eye on him and if he begins to lose weight you do have a problem. Take a picture of him for comparison later.
In a community tank it probably wont be possible to train him to eat prepared foods. The biggest problem here is he simply wont compete with the other fish for food. If you have a fuge or a QT set up this is the best place to try and train him over to prepared foods adding some in with live offerings.
I know your trying your best and want to keep the fish but I would take him in for store credit while you still can. IMO these guys need a species tank with tons of natural food sources and even then can be a problem just like the mandirins

my scooter does just fine i introduced him into my tank a month after having it. He is great he will sift through my sand and he will also eat the frozen cubes i mix up and put in there. I have heard a lot of people say not to do it though!

I had a Male Scooter in my 20 gallon tank that used to eat Prime Reef flakes, after a year I added a female to the tank and she seemed to learn from the male and she also started eating flakes. They used to breed at night by swimming up to the top and releasing eggs and sperm at the same time while swimming next to each other. Sadly after having them for over two years I lost both of them when I was doing and water change and my local LFS sold me RO instead of salt
Never did business with them again, and now I tase the water before changes.
