its not that hard to feed starfish, i've seen them eat dead feeders, it doesnt look that complicated, all u do it drop a feeder (must be dead or else the struggle will allow them to flee) near ur starfish if it comes up for food, and it will slowly drag it in with its .. moving thingies
They DO NOT NEED and SHOULD NOT BE FED feeders.
Anything meaty- but diverse - will do. Shrimp, krill, frozen silversides, squid, mussel, clam, shrimp pellets, etc.
Have you ever seen a tank of feeder fish? They aren't the healthiest of fish. Why would you risk the health of your tank to a $.10 feeder fish when totally unecessary? Nor do asian freshwater carp commonly get eaten by indo pacific saltwater animals in the wild.
Don't make life difficult for yourself. Get a bamboo skewer, put the food on the end of it, and touch it to the tip of the star. Should grab it. Remove anything that is not eaten.
Also keep in mind that brine is a very poor diet long term. You should try and diversify the diet of your fish anyway. There are loads of fabulous frozen foods out there these days that proved a lot of minerals and nutrients as well as diversity for the fish. Improves health and color.
