Feeding an Anemone

Hey reefers!
I have a BTA that host two Clarki Clowns, one about 1" and the other about 2" in size. Every time I try to feed my Anemone either small pices of Krill or Myssis the Clowns get in there and knock the food away from the BTA!
Any suggestions on how to get the food to the BTA??

I usually feed silversides and do not expereince this. Anemones are stickey and are able to cling on to the food.
A couple of questions...
1) how long have you had this anemone.
2) Maybe it does not like what you are feeding

Feed your fish first. Then feed your anemone. I find my clowns are less likely to steal food when they have already been fed themselves. Also if they clowns are still trying to steal the food, just protect the anemone (i fend mine off w/ my feeding stick) until it has a firm grasp on the food.
While feeding will increase an anemones health, generally speaking spot feeding is only necessary to increase the health of your anemone or to increase its size. Proper lighting should be the number one thing that feeds the anemone, only supplimented from time to time by spot feedings.
Hope this helps.

I hand feed mine (got 7 in my tank from small to big) with a wooden shish kabob stick
poke shrimp or silverside with stick and hand feed em. Works for me.

Sounds good! I am feeding it about once a week because I want it to get a bit bigger.

I have been just using my hands to give him a little Krill but i will give it a try with the stick! The fish dont eat the food they just seam to knock it out of the grasp of the BTA. I think its because they are just too big for the BTA!!
Thanks

Silversides seem way to big to give my BTA!! How small do you have to cut them up? And, I have only had the anemone for about 3 weeks!

Anemones should be given small particles of food. While they are capable of eating large meals, the process is tiring to them. And what they would have gained from eating the meal is lost on the energy needed to consume and digest it. chopped or finely minced marine foods, raw.. clams, silversides, mysis, krill, squid and shrimp are all acceptable food. Administered with a turkey baster your anemone will have a much easier time eating and it will be more beneficial to it. HTH good luck.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking. I was giving it small amounts of Mysis shrimp every week and a piece of krill every now and then but I will continue to feed it smaller pieces!
