feeding an open brain

Hi everyone,
I bought a plate and open brain on Saturday. Both seem to be doing well so far, and plate had a good silverside meal on Sunday.
I have read that open brains do not need to be fed--they can thrive on light alone. But I hope to feed it silversides and/or krill anyway. I tried silversides yesterday about an hour before lights-off. I put one directly on its mouth for about 2 minutes. It did not even move. I then put it on several places arounds its tissue, again it didn't budge. Is he just being stubborn? How does one feed them? Will they react differently at night?

Try a search. I searched the BB using "feeding open brain." I found 16 threads.

Yup, my real name is Kris Walker, Surfin Sam was my first saltwater fish, a cleaner wrasse that seemed to surf the currents in my tank. To avoid confusion though, I just sign off as "Sam" rather than my real name. I'll probably change my username sometime though. :D

I feed all my brains hours after lights out. I'v got two lobos, a open and a favia. they all have there feeder tenacles out later in the night. Both my open brain and lobos eat all kinds of meaty foods. The favia only eats brine shrimp.

It has hundreds of corals. It just became my lfs of choice. Keep in mind I have not yet visited those in Hayward or San Leandro that were suggested to me by others (they are further away than I am willing to go right now).
