Feeding Coral with Skimmer and Sump pump on?

Hello All!!
I have only made a couple of posts....but been sing the site for about 3 years (the age of my setup.
I have a 90 Gallon bowfront with a sump and skimmer. We finally decided to try coral again so we bought a couple.

My question is this. To feed DTs or Marine Snow, I believe I need the skimmer off for 1 hour (per instructions).....however it does say to also turn off any mechanical filter. Would that apply to my sump pump? My sump still has a few bio-balls but other than that the only thing is the sump. Do I need to kill the pump as well too? I dont believe I need to....but wanted opinions.
One more thing. Do any of you have opinions on Marine Snow vs DTs? My LFS told me that Marine snow has more of what my coral will need. I have used DTs in the past but do not have a bottle right now to determine the ingredients, etc.
Thanks as always!!

Personally, I turn my skimmer, powerheads and pump off when I use snow. I use it about twice a week and i'ts worked great for me, the other stuff I have never used nor heard anything about.

i turn off everyting except lights. I turn down my power heads (aqua clear) and drift snow back and forth in the tank and let it just do its thing for an hr 2x a week. I have since found frozen cyclop-eez, a new food that my fish and every body else goes nuts for (new to me at least)
