I didn't see a forum for Feeding Eels so i figured id post my question here in the newbie section
I have a 125 gal aggressive tank. with 2 Eels in it. One is a Snowflake Eel and the other is a Zebra Eel.
CAN I feed cooked shrimp u buy in the frozen section of Wal**rt.
Or do they need to be live? Raw?
My girlfriend picked these up, Ive been feeding them silversides but the LFS is out.

You could feed them regular shrimp but RAW... never cooked. You also have to make sure that there are no other ingredients besides shrimp (no flavors or anything)

Cooked shrimp looses a lot of it's nutrients. And you have to be careful as to what it was cooked in..

raw shrimp are cheap. I usually got mine at walmart for 5$ for frozen bag it lasted a long time as well.

Eels need variety in their diet. They are prone to getting goiters which has been linked to malnutrition and lack of iodine.

+1 with what Gemmy said. They need lots of variety as well. Raw shrimp is a great base (and they have a fair amount of iodine). bits of oysters, clams, scallops, and other meaty, raw seafoods is also a good source of nutrients.
