Feeding frozen Mysis and Formula 1???

I know variety is important and I was feeding 4-5 flakes of flake food once a day (in the morning) for a few days until I realized how bad it was for water quality so I won't feed flake food anymore (it's going in the trash!).
I've also been feeding 1/2 a cube of Formula 1 once a day (in the evening) which I've been holding with aquarium tongs (my 2 clownfish rush up and hungrily munch on it). The only problem with this, is that I worried how much (if any) food is getting to my 3 large hermit crabs. Recently I've just been placing chunks of it near them individually and they reach out quickly grab it.
I'm going to get some frozen Mysis today. How should I feed these two? Should I alternate them? Feed once a day or twice a day? With only two clown fish, and 3 large hermit crabs, is 1/2 a cube sufficient or to much?
If anyone could give me any tips on how to feed Mysis and Formula 1 I would greatly appreciate it!
Also...I've read that Formula 1 can be messy and people have problems with the gel binder that's used in it. While I get the frozen mysis today, should I also get something else to replace the Formula 1?

First feed the 2 clownish until they don't rush up and hungrily munch on it as much.
Then target feed the 3 large hermit crabs like you have been.
"I've read that Formula 1 can be messy and people have problems with the gel binder that's used in it." I have not used Formula 1 but it sounds reasonable that the gel would foul the water quality when feeding small fish.
What I do when feeding with a new food is stop the use of all other foods and just use the new one for a week or two. I test look and see any changes to the tank corals and fish. If I can't target feed the fish so they don't act like they are full without a waste spike I change the food or add a less dirty food with it when feeding. I use plastic liquid dropper, dissolve the food in tank water and target the fish with only as much as they can gobble up in one little squirt at a time. I do that a few times till they stop looking so hungry.

I really don't like the gel binder in formula 1. I used exactly one cube of it before deciding I hated it. The rest of the package has been sitting in my freezer for a year. I do use their "Prime Reef" though. I've also had pretty good success using H2O Life products. I use their frozen mysis/spirulina, frozen cyclops and frozen coral mix. I use them mostly because thats what my LFS carries. I've heard good thing about emerald entree.
I used to use Piscine Energetics mysis, but I didn't like the way it made my tank smell extra fishy. I know a lot of people really like it. I also seemed to have more phosphate issues when I used it even after rinsing it.

H20 is good
Rods has herbivore, coral, and carnivore blends and they are all great!
PE mysis is another goody
I usually take a cup of RO/DI and defrost it all and make my own cubes, than re freeze em so they get rinsed and i can just grab a couple cubes to feed my tanks every day...works out easier for me that way!
U can get some crab/lobster pellets for ur hermits if u really need to!
My emeralds, shrimps, and hermit crabs love em!
they sink to the bottom

I use frozen mysis, marine cuisine, cyclops. I put the cubes in a brine shrimp net and thaw it out under the tap then rinse with RO water. I use a fork and put the necessary amounts in all the tanks. Also with my brittle star once a week I take a chunk or raw shrimp or scallops and feed it with a long pointed stick. You could get some smaller bits of shrimp and scallops on a feeding stick and feed your hermits.
