Well, if u think about it, eating freshwater food is kinda odd, ya know? The animals are of a different balance, and not what the lions would have eatne. It's bad for their liver anyway. If you feed frozen, every now and then you can buy them a small cromis or sumthing like that for them to eat. Maybe even live shiners. If you absolutely HAVE to feed live, feed it tetras, cuz they are much cleaner than guppies/ goldfish. Tetras are cheap, and you could prob feed it those.

Aidos, you don't HAVE to feed the lion live foods. Frozen saltwater foods (silversides, krill) are extremely good sources for everything the lion needs, and soaking these frozen foods in vitamin supplement or booster will make them even better. You can also feed it pieces of fresh saltwater seafood you buy at a local grocery.
Freshwater feeders aren't a problem because they aren't in the lion's daily diet in the wild. They are a problem because they have a lot of bacteria in them, especially fish bred as feeder fish (the tanks with a hundred guppies in 20g for example). Also, they do not have the same levels of nutritional value as saltwater items (fresh, frozen, or from the grocery).
