Feeding Live food to your fish.

I'm new to the hobby and read that it is a good idea to feed live food to your fish and I was wondering what's one of the easiest ways to start out breeding/feeding live food?
Do Brine Shrimp hatcheries work? Do the Hatch 'n Feeder contraptions work (found one called the brine shrimp coral) -- where it sits in the tank and the shrimp make their way out of the tank without mixing water?
Thanks,

Brine shrimp arent particularly nutritious. I feed mine mostly frozen, but every other week or so I go and get a few dozen live ghost shrimp. They usually last a few days in my tank before they get eaten up.

I agree that brine shrimp aren't nutritous for your fish. What kind of fish are you trying to feed live food to?

I liquiduse all together: cockles, shrimps (with a shells), mussels, squid, some dry nori and a bit of spinach and dill. Then I am adding a some garlic juice and few drops of Kent Zoe Marine, then freezing it in ice tray.
It does not exactly work much cheaper then to buy commercially pre-packed food. But I think my fish are happy with it. However then never can tell you, if they really are. lol'
I did heard that brine shrimp has a very low nutrition content. But my fish still going crazy, when I feed them with it. Must be the same, as kids going for candy: they love it, but its a zero benefit.

Are there any discussions on here about food preparation? Ingredients & recipies like this one?
And what are good / necessary additive supplements?

feeding fish properly always varies by spacific species requirement. be sure of what catagory your fish fits before buying fish foods for it to ensure proper dietary and nutritonal needs.dont always rely on you locla fish stores to guide you with correct feeding needs.majority of lfs use minimal cost effective foods to sustain them long enough to sell them.placing them all in the same food catigory.
there 5 accual catigories you need to find which catigory your new fish will be in .these catigories are as followed:
hebivores:.this species requires a main diet of plant and algae diet with small portions of meaty for proteins.
omnivore:fish that fit this catigory need a combined mixture of meaty and plant and algae containing foods
carnivore: these fish require a higher protein diet such as a variety of meaty foods
angels: this family requires a combination of the omnivore diet but it requires addition ingredients containing various sea sponge species.only angel formulated prepaired food contain this extra ingredient that is required for this species family to survive.
(very important to angel owner or prospective buyers of angels no other foods will contain this very important ingredient)
larger aggresive species(carnivore)lions,puffers, eels,sharks groupers,triggers ,wrasses, ect....
as these fish grow so do there appetites, these larger species will needs a larger size portions.these fish listed are preditorial fish and some also scavengers. these fish require a varity of diversity of species of prey to ensure proper nutrients are ingested.
each species of prey they eat contain different nutrients due to their deitary needs so a combined diet of these differnt species catigories ensures this for the predator.( the old saying you are what you eat is excactly right on the money with this example).
adding extra suppliment to your fishes diet is also very important.not all foods are created equally some better than other but no single food will contain everything your fesh needs to be healthy adding suplliment helps ensure your fish are getting all vit and minerals they need to help keep their natural immunities at their best.
