feeding monti caps

What do you feed monti caps? I was told rotifers of cyclo. What's better and do you have to spot feed or just feed the tank? Thanks for any suggestions.

I just feed my tank and let them get what they can get. I feed rotifers, and cylops on a rotation every other day.

Mine dont get anything but fish waste. Sounds cruel, but if I tried to feed it anything, I figure it would be a very small micron food, which would pollute my water more than do good

I feed a mix of mysis, krill and cyclo to some of my lps so the tank gets some cyclo. Hopefully this will be fine. This is my first sps and I'm hoping it grows and does well.

they benefit from nutrients in the water but really all a monti needs is clean water, medium to strong light and fish poo.
My SPS probably take up some of the finely chopped pieces in my homemade fish food, but I dont feed any SPS anything specifically.
Amino acids are helpful with SPS but for a single monti they probably arent worth it.

Prob not enough lighting. I know you really shouldn't keep sps under pc's. I've got 4x96w pc's and I was really iffy on getting it. I was talked into it by a couple of people so I thought I'd give it a chot and I've have heard of people keeping the monti caps under pc's.
I'm watching it closely to see how it's doing and if I think it's not doing so hot I've got friends that could easily take and give it a good home. So, we'll see how the experiment goes and I'll keep everyone posted.
I've got it high up in the tank so I'm hoping this will be enough lighting.

Yeah, that's where it's at. Like I said I wasn't going to get it just asking questions and the two people in the LFS talked me into it. It's a pretty reputal store in the area and they know more than I do that's for sure.

Monti does grow pretty well under the right lighting and healthy water.. I'd say forget what most people say about feeding them. The more waste you put into the water the more your going to throw off your water. Unless you like changing your water every 4-5 days. If anything with Montis, I'd just spot feed them with some phyto along with keeping up with your iodine, calcium and strontium.
