feeding my dog face puffer...

how often do i need to feed my dog face puffer? every time i come up to the tank he runs to the front like he is hungry. right now i feed him flake food once a day and a small piece of shrimp every 3 or 4 days. please help i dont want to starve him or over feed <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

your feeding habits should be fine.. imho what size is your puffer, by the way?

i feed my fish every other day or every third day. i try to give them something different every time, it might be krill one day and squi the next. try to vary diets, it will give the fish more color and its better for him. bo

Well, I may be wrong (its been known to happen) But unless your puffer is VERY small, I would not feed flake at all. I'd suggest varying its diet with several different fresh or frozen foods. Like squid, clam, krill, silversides, and oysters. If its fresh cut it up to bite size pieces and freeze. JMO

First off what kind and how big is the puffer? I don't think you are feeding it enough. Puffers need more meaty foods, and more often. I have a small saddle back that eat krill silver sides and mysis shrimp, the larger dogface eat anything you put into the tank, and I feed them both every day. Hopes this helps. Good Luck

I would feed him everyday. Mixing up his diet is a good idea as well. This not only keeps him healthy but mixes things up and let you know what your puffer does and does not like.
