ok im going get my first fish tommorow and was wondering should i stick to feeding one thing like either flake or frozen for a while till my clown gets good and comfortable then start alternating foods to give it a varied diet i was thinking i could feed some flake real quick in the morning and then frozen at night is that okay to do? thanks for any help

that should be ok, to vary , but
depending on the fish, he may only like one thing you have to offer, depending won what it is used to
we had one not like anything we had, until we found out what it wanted, and then gave that, and kinda weeneed it to our normal supply, but variety is always good
and that fish was a percula clown, which generally is not picky

Make sure he eats well at the LFS.(ask the store to feed him right there so you can watch him) I have found this to be the best way to see if that fish has a good chance of eating in your tank.

dont feed the same thing all the time. it is good to vary what you feed your fish and watching them eat you will know what it likes the best...
feeding flakes in the morning and frozen at night should be ok
