Feeding of Freshwater Feeders to a Salt/Brackish/Freshwater Fish?

With most saltwater predators, you can't feed them freshwater feeders because they lack the needed nutrients and they have alot of the "bad" nutrients instead. I currently have a Large Eyed Toadfish that can live in fresh, brackish, or saltwater. Mine is currently in Saltwater, since it can live in Freshwater this means it must eat live freshwater fish in the wild. So wouldn't it be alright to feed it live freshwater feeder fish? I would think its alright but im not really sure. Isn't it alright for people with freshwater tanks to feed their predators live fish all the time since they are all in freshwater? I would really like some input from people since nobody has really put their thoughts into this.. :D

thats a tricky ? but feeding fresh water fish to saltwater isnt because of the nutrients but will eventually cause liver disease in fish like lions. i dont know if it would affect your fish the same way.

That is a good question and i really don't see anything wrong with it because i feed my fish ghost shrimp once in awhile and they can live in salt or fresh as well (the ghost shrimp) but i guess the question is will the feeders have the same effect on the toad fish in salt water as it would in fresh. (wonder if they did a study of this at harvard or some other school in europe somewhere.) and as far as nature goes who jnow's what kind of fish they eat in the wild. also ever been to the aquarium and see them feed the salt water wonder what kind of fish they use salt or fresh. (perhaps tuna)

Thank for the replys... looks like this is a tricky question. <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" /> It seems like im just gonna get him to eat frozen food, thats looking like my best bet. The only problem with it is... he stays hidden in the live rock all day so how will I ever feed it?? Its hard enough just to get the live feeders in his hiding spot. Any ideas?

sounds to me like your toad fish may be a nocturnal fish and that could be its perferred time to eat. a lot of time if fish have very large eyes they are night feeders.
