Feeding open brain coral

We are new to corals so please bear with me. We got an open brain coral last Fri. and it hasn't opened its tenacles at all. It kinda puffs up during the day but no tenacles out. We've tried to feed it a couple of times and now after watching a video on you tube I realize that we should be seeing alot of tenacles first. I tried shrimp and a piece of clam, one of the mouths opened wide but nothing happened. I held the food in place for several minutes. Are they more likely to feed at night? How many times a week should they feed? We were told 2 or 3 times a week. How long does it normally take after they are moved to start opening up? (basically how long until I should start to worry!!)
