Few questions about Filstar XP series

What do you guys run in your rena xp series filters? mechanical and biological filtration? i got my hands on a xp4 and its empty. i need to buy all new stuff for it, but not sure what to get. itll be going on a 25g mini reef with a 25g refugium, and a 25g sump full of LR. what do you guys recommend putting in it?
also, right now the only return pump i have is a mag 5. i think its way to much for my small tank. i was curious, since the xp4 is rated at 450 gph, could i just use it for a return pump? the 450 gph of the XP4 doesnt seem half as strong as this mag 5.

you are going to need to clean that xp4 regularly, no matter what media you put in it. i would put some easy to swap out, cotton-ish filters, and swap them out weekly. i would keep the mag5 if you plan to keep corals. i can't see how it could be too much. i imagine your sump is underneath the tank, a couple feet below? if so, that pump is only putting maybe 300gph in the display. i say, keep the mag5.
