Few Questions

Info: I have an establish 12 gallon nano tank for about 6 months. Recently got a 29 biocube tank for my birthday. So far I use distilled water that belongs to target corp. Added old sand that i didn't use all from my 12 gallon tank without any water yet. Then I added in distilled water then i added salt. Few days later i went to buy 5lb live sand from LFS and added that to the tank. It cleared up really fast in a day or two. Here the questions:
1. Do i need to add chlorine remover or stuff like that? ( I am not sure if i suppose to or not. Just want to make sure)
2. I ghost fed once and from my old sand i would assume all the bacteria are dead and should start an ammonia spike but I am still not getting any reading yet. So far my Ammonia is at 0ppm. As well for my Nitrites 0ppm and Nirates 0ppm .
3. I was going to transfer one live rock from 12 gallon tank into this tank. Will the tank the cycle be shorten? Eventually I am going to transfer all the rocks but i am going to keep a few in the tank for the fish to hide.
4.Is the Biocube 29 really 29 gallon? (reason I asked, because the gallon jug from target i used to fill up my tank i had a lot left over and I bought 31 jug and used 22 jug I think. Unless the gallon jug are inaccurate on the actual amount of water they carry.)
Thank You Very Much for viewing this thread! :) Good Day!

1 - Never add chlorine remover or anything else unless you have tested your water and are convinced that it will help.
2 - Keep ghost feeding a small amount of food. The live sand you purchased will have a good supply of bacteria. Just feed them enough to keep a healthy population of bacteria.
3 - I would guess the tank has cycled. Doesn't take long for a tank that size after you add live sand. What has not happened yet is a stable population of bacteria. Ghost feeding will help with that. Adding the rock will increase the chances for a stable tank.
4 - You added sand as well so you would not be able to add all 29 gallons of water.

Thank you for the quick reply Bang. When should i transfer my fish over? Well i want to hold to the clown because i want to get another clown so i can add them both in at the same time. Ihave fire goby and clown in my other tank currently. Also for my CUC 6 snails. 2 peppermint shrimp, 1 cleaner shrimp, and one hermit crab.

If it were me I would continue daily ghost feeding of a tiny amount of food until you see algae. I would then add the hermit and a snail. If they are doing well after a week then add the goby and shrimp. After another week of no ill effects the Clowns and the other snails.
Meanwhile, add a rock every once in a while.

Oh. I thought if i used distilled water the algae won't grow unless your talking about the corline algae? XO Thanks for tip! Oh, how many live rock lbs I should have my 29 gallon biocube tank.

Distilled water reduces the nutrients needs for diatoms and other alga but algae will grow from any nutrient source (rock, sand, ghost feeding, etc.). Algae is the bottom of the food chain, it's only a nusiance when there's excess algae.
I like a lot of rock. I would probably add 50 - 60 pounds. Your preference may be different. Just be sure to provide a lot of waterflow.
