A little confused on whether the live rock/base rock shouid be set on top of the sand or the rock be placed in the tank first.
Hearing varying opinions-is it just personal preference.
Want to put 4 in of sand in tank-DSB-3" of Southdown and 1" of live. How much will I need for a 75 Gal.
Will a 125 Pro-Clear wet/dry be large enough for a 75 gallon with a mag 5 return pump?
If anyone can help
Thanks

The rock should be placed in the tank first, and then the substrate around the rock. If you put sand under the rock, a lot of dirt and debris will build up under there and cause you to have nitrate problems down the road.
That size wet/dry should be fine, however, you are going to want to go with a mag 7, not 5.
Maybe someone else could help you with the sand question. I did not use sand in my tank, but just aragonite, and I only have a 1/2"-1" layer of it.

For a DSB in you 75, you are looking at 125-150 pounds. I have 100 pounds in my 65 and it is a foot shorter than your 75.

Thanks
Is Southdown sand Aragonite and what makes it so good?
Will 3 inches suffice w/ just a cup of LS to seed or should I add an inch of LS to make 4"

I think you are going to want to shoot for 4-6 inches to be a DSB. And you do not need alot of LS to seed with. Of course the more the better, but not needed. It will still work with just a cup, just take alttle longer.

I have a 3 inch bed and like it alot. One of the mods has like a 1 inch bed and was talking about how good it was.

see i put the sand in first. i think its better. it makes the rock more sturdy and the gobies love making tunnels under the rocks.i had cc in my 29, i saw the watchman everyday. he was always out. now i moved to a 55 with sand i hardly ever see him he is always under the rocks with his pistol shrimp buddy!! i only have a 3in bed but in some spots its 4 cause of the shrimp pulling it out from under the rocks.
