Hi Guys,
I ahve been recommended to get a Fighting conch, good for algae and the such like.
What are their requirements? Any care advice? Anyone got any pics/experiences?
Thanks for the help!
Tim.

Tim, With a 75 you can get a couple fighting conches. They are probably the hardest workers on my janitorial crew. Have you done the other things yet? More live rock, start to get rid of bio-balls?

Hi there,
I am fighting a Diatom war at the moment (and winning now!)! I have heard they are very good.
I have added a lot of rocks which over a long period will turn live. Live Rock is extremely expensive over here so this is how i am doing it! I am going to add Live Sand once my diatoms are gone to seed my coral sand. I havent crossed the bioball bridge yet!
Got any pics of your conchs?
All the best,
Tim.

I agree you could get more than one. They will clean up your diatom problem in a couple of days - once they start working.
I don't have a decent digital camera, but heres a shot of mine, one just below the brain and one in the bottom right, you can just make out his trunk.

Forgot to mention - these guys are naturally nocturnal however both of mine seem to prefer the day. I have had both disappear for weeks at a time (under the sand). They are hard workers - like two little vacuum cleaners.

I've had my FC for a week tomorrow and I don't know if it is all due to him but my sand is looking better than it has in months! I seen him burrow down in the sand the day after I got him and have not seen him since but something is changing in my DSB and it seems to be for the better!:D

Tim as for disapearing...don't get nervous if you won't see your fighting counches for some time. They go and they come back. Don't get more than 2 of 'em.

I've had him for about 4 days. He dug himself in the sand a bit and moves his eyes around but thats about it. Plenty of food for em heh. I'll probably get rid of him when I get my nassarius snails.

i got a 3-4 inch for 7 dollars, it hasnt moved since i got my corals, which was about 3 weeks ago:mad:, it sticks its eyes out so i know its alive plus if it was dead, the cleaner would try to dig it out....
