as stated by bang guy (i think he is describing the same thing, do a search for 'anyone else seem to be breeding ground')
"Spotted Conch aka Strombus maculatus aka Strombus Grazers.. They are great snails to have. "

oops. didnt see you mentioned that already. sorry. I bought the same thing (mine looks like your pic) under the impression that it was a fihgting conch. it has done great cleaning all over glass and powerheads. I finally found a queen conch today. Its shell is really spikey, and pretty comical looking.

So far mine has stayed in the sand bed, which is where I really need it. I may have to break down and drive down to Dayton and get one at a saltwater warehouse down there.

Only a couple times, usually late enough to avoid any congestion.

Well, I've figured out the ID of my conch. I went to Gerber's Saltwater Warehouse in Dayton today and they had some there.
It is called a Tongan Strombus Conch.
I was also able to see a fighting conch so now I can tell the difference.

Tongan Strombus Conchs can grow to 4 inches and live for up to 15 years. They are peacefu, reef safe and eat diatom casings. They are also good for stirring and cleaning the sand surface. :D

I just hope that my tank lasts that long!! Now, if he'd just get busy on the sand... :)
