hmm....try about 50 of each (Scarlet Hermit Crab, Blueleg Hermit Crab, Turbo/Astrea Snail, Emerald Crab) and about 10 kole tangs. That MIGHT do it!! :notsure:
QUIT FEEDING YOUR ALGAE STEROIDS! go for at least distilled water until you get your ro unit, or until you get the nerve to go and buy soem from walmart. not being mean but it took me a while to get the nerve to go and buy the stuff.................and it made a world of difference.
Something else, you may want to detach that extension on your pump, uneless you have it hooked up to something? I had the same one and it sucked up 2 of my smaller fish. Take the extension off and you should do fine
Ok i'm just able to post again. I cut my lights down to half and i'm still waiting on my test kits from this site. I seem to be in an area where any good LFS is no such thing. I've been to many stores and i have gotten nothing!. The algea is now starting to clear up a tiny bit but i need something to reduce the Phosphates..i don't know that for sure but i mean seriosuly...look at this tank.... it's like a film covering everything.... once the kits come in I will post my Phosphate readings and ALK readings. I've scrubbed it off many time but how many times is it worth really scrubbing off.....It's not starting to turn more red....i though red meant not enough flow....i'm so confused...i think i need a phos sponge. My nitrates are at .10ppm i don't think that's too much..or enough to cause this outbreak so it has to be Phosphates
And i have about 25 snails that are in heaven right now eating away at this algea. For some reason Hemit crabs are extinct in the state of Mass. I've been to 10 stores and no one has any. What the hell!
yea i know i'll be getting a skimmer mine sucks never works right and i tried a million different ways. i finlly got some hermit crabs we'll how they do. Do hermit crabs in any way reduce nitrates? and my algea turns brown..what does that mean?
i don't test for phosphates because i have zero algae but i would think you would want a reading of zero. adding anything to your tank as far as animals go will increase your nitrates until your filter has time to build up for the increased load. Phosban is a must and will go into your media basket on your emperor or penguin (whatever that hang on is?) what are your nitrate readings?
My nitrates seem to be at a steady .10 even if i do a water change. According to sailfert my phos reading are far exceeding critical levels...... i'll get the sponge soon to fix that.
your nitrates should be fine at 10, but should very seldom excede that. phosban does work wonders, but you have to be patient it takes some time to work
eliminates it! as long as your using RO/DI after the fact. you should have no problem!! but remember the roots of the algae evil. I'm drunk and won't gett intito it "overfeedingg"etc....
