Fiji Live Rock

What all corals, critters and such can you expect to find when you add Fiji Live rock to your tank? Tonight I noticed a very small polyp on one piece.

You name it... depending on how "fresh" the rock is...
Clams, sponges, macro algaes, shrooms, anemones, polyps, etc. Not to mention snails, crabs....

I added it to my tank 2 weeks ago and I'm waiting to see some stuff. I guess it will be several months before I really start to notice things. Are there many "bad" things that could come off of that type of rock, things that I should be on the lookout for? Thanks.

Check the hitchhiker thread for possible baddies.
My live rock has been in my tank for almost a year. I am still seeing new things appear.

I really wasn't expecting to see anything tonight, but I thought it was so cool to see a little polyp hanging out in there. I made my wife rush over to check it out. She thought it was neat, but not quite as neat as I did. Thanks for the info 1journeyman.

No problem.
Wait for a couple of hours after dark and then creep up to the tank... that's when you will really see some wild stuff.

No, I've had my tank up and running for several years now. I'm just wanting to get into it a little deeper than a fish only tank. I had some fiji live rock in there from a couple of years ago (before I knew much about saltwater tanks) and I just added about 30+ more pounds to it about 2 weeks ago(after curing it of course).

Do you really think I could see some stuff in there at night with the new rock being so new? If so, I'm going to have to set the alarm clock early!!!

About 3 weeks after introducing 45 pounds of the drs. premium fiji LR, I saw a Cerith snail, some sponge things, and some macro plants or whatever they are called lol. Pretty neat. This box of rock happened to be the fused branches of porites variety. All sorts of nooks and crannies for stuff to appear out of

What is the porites variety? Is it the fingers or tubes that are compacted together to make a "rock"? If so, that is what mine is. I've had it in the tank for about 3 weeks now and still have only found one polyp. While I was curing it, I notice several peanut worms (or at least thats what I thought they were)

Yup, it is ancient porite colonies that have broken off. Here's one of mine....

I have 45 pounds of that, and I just ordered another 45 pounds....hope to get the boulder type this time around for some diversity.

That's exactly what I got this past time I ordered. I wondered if it was fiji rock because it didn't look like the other fiji rock that I already had. I hope a lot more stuff starts to appear out of it.
