I just got one yesterday and all he does is stay hid.is this normal?he's breathing fine and everything.he just seems real scared.how long does it take them to acclimate to a tank and swim around? Are they open swimmers or do they stay his all the time?
i would give it a few days and if he is still not coming out then i would start to look at what might be wrong..what other fish do you have in there with him??
well you don't have anything in there that should give him a problem..give it a little bit of time..flashers and fairys can hid alot at first but will get bolder as time goes on..have you seen him eat anything??

When i was feeding tonight.he ate a piece that went by his hole
Thats all i've seen though.he just sets and watches everything.he almost looks like he's on crack the way his eyes move and watch everything
one benefit of qt'ing a new fish:
you can watch it eat, give it a stress free life, etc for a couple weeks
the wrasse is probably eating copepods and amphipods, don't worry too much about it.
Hi, A lot of fairy wrasses that I have had hide for the first few days. It is typical for this kind of behavior. He should come out in a few days when he realizes that you and the other fish in the tank are not going to harm him. Lesley
i agree with renogaw qt is very good thing to do..i also use a specimen cup when i put a new fish in the tank..gives the other time to get use to the new guy and i let him out at night and the next day it was like the new fish was there all along..that has worked very well for me..i keep mostly fairy and flashers
