Is it ok to top off the wet dry with tap water? I only have live rock in and im cycling. I orginally used tap water to fill the tank with some stress coat before adding the rock. I will be away for a week and i wanna fill the wet dry up a lil to compensate for evaporation.

Do you regularly use tap water for evap. loss? You might get a diatom algea breakout if you add too much tap water. IMO I would make a trip to the store and buy a few gallons.

Tap water is fine. The problem with tap water is the chlorine and the phosphates in it. The chlorine you can get rid of but the phosphates will promote the growth of unwanted algae. You could use Phosguard in your filter to help fight the phosphates though.

Tap water is never recommended. It can contain phosphates, silicates, chlorine, choramine, heavy metals, and other potential hazzards. Some tap water contains elements in quantities more than 2 million times the concentration found in natural seawater!
