i am new to this but what kind of filter would be good for a saltwater tank besides a sump? would a filter that comes in the starter kit be alright? please post the name of any good filters, their brand and the price.

Ofcourse you can use the bio wheel type that comes with your tank setup! But, You will need to get a skimmer atleast down the road! The standard is good for running carbon , but the skimmer pulls so much more junk from your tank!

I agree, definately get a skimmer too. I use 2 hang on back filters on my 46. One of them is the same one that came with my set up.
