Hi,
I was given a SeaStorm filter. Does anyone know anything about these? Are they good, bad???
Thanks,

sorry -I have never heard of that one. Which type is it--a power hang on, canister, wet/dry or something else all together.?

Its a hang on the back filter. It draws water out of the sump by use of a powerhead. Its goes into another part of the filter that has glass beads the size of a grain of sand that the water is filtered through. The beads are also constintly being "swirled" by a seperate powerhead. I'll try to take a pic of it tonight and post it.
Thanks,
Mike

It is like a sand filter, but it uses beads instead of sand. Still lots of surface area for biological filtration. Great for fish only tanks where live rock is either not used or not enough is used, but most reefs have enough live rock to cover biological. No need for this type filtration IMO.
