filter?

What are some great filters for hang on? I know a sump is good but what else? And sorry in advance for all these questions

I personally prefer Marineland Emperor series filters. The 280 is up to a 40g tank and the 400 is up to a 90g I think. I have a Emperor 400 on my 29g reef and it does great. The filters are about $4 each and I really like the media trays.

Is a filter required on a salt water tank or is a protein skimmer and refugium enough just curious?

A mechanical filter removes particulates in the water column. It's not extremely necessary if your refugium has a slow enough flow where the detritus settles out.

Would a marineland filter Which cycles 200 g per hour be good for a 20g long tank or which filter be good

I use a similar sized filter for my QT tank and it works well.
