I'd add a couple of PH's = Powerheads and you should be fine.
By the way .... there are no dumb questions in this hobby.

If it were my 20G I would get a couple of powerheads, 2 50 watt compact heaters, 30 pounds of good live rock, 15 pounds of good sand, and an oversized skimmer. After the tank matures for a bit I'd add 5 pounds or so of good live sand.

I like the aqua clear filters because you can ditch the guts and load them with LR rubble or pretty much watever you want I use mine as mini fuges. milleniums are nice though, I just dont like the cartrige style.

Live rock, Live sand, and a skimmer if you want to spend ~$100 on a skimmer. I have a Coralife Superskimmer 65 and it works great in my 20gal. And then of course, and small powerhead.
