Filters?

I am in the process of cycling my tank. It is a 125 gallon. I bought 25 lbs of lr and 125 lbs of base rock. I am using an Aquaclear 200 wet/dry that filters 900 gph,and 2 Aquaclear 500 filters that hang on the back. One of the lfs told me today to get rid of the Aquaclear hang ons and replace then with Emperor 400's. I know that when all the base rock turns live I will stop using the wet/dry, but I don't know if I should replace the Aquaclear hang ons. I was told to cut some of the sponge from the Aquaclear and place it in the Emperors so the cycle isn't interrupted.
Any help with this is really appreciated. Thanks!!

I would keep the ones you have. Unless you have the extra money to spend. Buy a skimmer instead.

I totally agree forget the filters and save for a skimmer! I have a reef and dont even have a filter.
