Filtration JBJ Nano Dlx

I got a 12g JBJ Nano Deluxe second hand and it didn't come with any filters at the back. The guy at the store gave me a bag to put into the back (it's a white bag with little black stones in it??) Can I get a recommendation as to what I should have in the back? Also, does anyone have trouble with the temp? Do you have a heater? Thanks for your help.

See this thread. "My new nano progress thread" Its a lil ways down the page. You need everything he has. Also my guess is that the white bag is full of charcoal. Which you do need.
And you will need a heater.
