I am going to be setting up a fowlr at my school with aggresive fish. probable stock is:
1 humu
1 snowflake eel
1 blue ring angel
1 blue hippo
1 yellow tang
possibly a panther gouper?
My question is what kind of filter do I need to be running on it. I was thinking about either doing 2 fluval 305's, or an FX5. With about 100 pounds of live rock as well as about 100 pounds of live sand. Let me know what yall think.

Ok after reading up on the size of the panther grouper, I have decided to not add it. Would the two 305's be okay, or would I need to do an FX5 or possibly a wetdry? Also could I put a couple of dwarf angels in, the kids are looking at stuff and really like the lemon peel and flame angels? If I add the dwarfs will I need to do away with anything in there?

A good sump with a good protein skimmer is the best filtration. Add a refugium and it's even better.

Ok, thanks for the help. What size sump would I need? Also I have someone who might be donating either a eheim 2250 or a fluval fx5. Would either of these work, or do I need a sump and skimmer?

For sump a 40, 45, 50, something in that neighborhood. For sumps it's better to get one that is longer, rather than taller. It's easy and cheaper to make your own. If you need help, there are lots of good articles online on how to do it. You simply take a fish tank and divide it with plexiglass partitions.
I'm not a fan of canister filters because they end up doing more harm than good over a long period of time.
