I am not new to saltwater but I am wanting to setup my first large tank(180 to 240gal). I am not forsure whether to go with a aggressive setup where I have alot of different choices on fish or go with a reef setup where my choices are limited.
Right now I have a 90gal that I have been fooling around with for a year. I have got alot of basics down, like proper maintenance, water testing, salt mixing, researching before buying.
I understand that a reef setup is going to be alot more expensive than an aggressive FO setup. Doing the research on how much more expensive it will be.
One more question, What do you think I will enjoy more a reef tank or a Fish Only aggressive setup and why?
Thanks for all the responses.
dstoneburg is correct on it being like chocolate and vanilla. There are totally different things. I personally picked aggressive at first as because of what dstoneburg said again, it is cheaper, the further I got in, I began to realized fish I like could not generally be housed w/ reef (such as most puffers.) I am working on a small lil 20 gallon reef, and well, it is ALOT more work than my 125 aggressive. Hardest part of taking care of my aggressive setup is feeding from my experience, certain fish have certain favorite foods lol, and i like to keep my fish happy
. So I feed them all individually. But to be honest, I enjoy doing it, so its not a big deal. Since I am not very experienced in reef setups, I can not give you accuracy there.
and this will be my final comment, as i dont feel like dealing w/ people who thing they are better than everyone else. I have better things to do w/ my time than deal w/ them.
