Finally, a dream realized...Titan Triggerfish arrives...

Well, after a year of searching, I finally got my Titan Triggerfish. At around 10 inches, still somewhat a juvenile and not nearly at full color, it's still an awesome fish. He just ate today at 1pm after getting in around 8pm last night. A nice fat, healthy fish. Pictures forthcoming after it gets over it's fear of me approaching the tank.
BTW, I'm assuming it's a male, so his name is Odin.
:D
Just thought I'd share the good news...
Peace,
Chip

congrats I am looking forward to seeing the picture of him. What size tank do you have him in? Do you have any other fish with him?

I have him in an Oceanic 110 gallon, which is five feet long, 2 feet high and 2 feet deep.
No other fish with him, as he would destroy anything else in the tank. The meanest, largest, and most aggressive trigger.
Here's what he'll look like in another year or so :

Right now he's mostly pale in body colors, with an off-white to yellow on the jaw.
Peace,
Chip

I am looking forward to see pics of him, i like triggers to. But titans are the largest triggers, but not the most aggressive, Queens are. That must be an awesome tank with a 10 in. titan. Hope everything goes well! ;)

I will take issue with this statement. :D
An adult titan trigger would destroy an adult queen trigger.

Well, I finally was able to snap a few pics of my titan trigger. He looks nothing like the pics on the net, but since he's still a juvenile, within 8 months or so he should resemble them more accurately.

Except for the simple fact that it's NOT a titan trigger.
I am now enraged.
The fact that it was 10" and didn't look anything like a titan really started to bother me in the last hour or so. So, in doing some searching on the web, I went to The Marine Center's web site, where they have two titans currently for sale. One at 6" and one at 18". They state that there is another trigger that is usually mistakenly sold as a titan in the trade, and that trigger is this :

I think I've been had. Now begins the long process of actually getting what I want. Grrr....
Peace,
Chip

Your fish looks excellent though. Ya I know that a full grown titan can kill a full grown queen. I'm just saying queens are more aggressive.

Just thought i'd like to tell you that your trigger is a pineapple. Some people call titans pineapples, or pineaples, titans.

Well, after finding out that this was indeed a pineapple, and not a juvenile titan trigger, he was shipped back to the distributor last night. To replace it, I acquired a crosshatch trigger instead, because I was hoping they actually knew what this fish looked like. :)
I turns out they did, because the most gorgeous 9" male showed up last night, and actually seems healthy. I'll know for sure by how he eats when I get home for lunch today.
Anyway, just giving everyone an update if y'all care.
Peace,
Chip

I believe the largest was close to three feet. Average males are over 2 feet in length.

The crosshatch was $150. The titan would have been the same, if it was a titan.

Ben,
Pics are coming, don't worry. :)
These triggers, as well as show quality clowns, nigers, picassos, etc, are all on the list from the distributor at the LFS where I run the saltwater section. It's been great selection, the 'titan incident' notwithstanding, so I guess we've been really lucky.
Peace,
Chip

I had not really heard of a Titan trigger until this post. Then today, while at the fish store, he had several bags of fish that had just arrived from his supplier. He always gives a 20% discount if you buy a fish before it is transferred to the tank. Well, I was looking through the bags and there was a bag labeled "Titan Trigger, Special, $19.99" I looked in the bag and it was a very small trigger that looked white in color with spots around the facial area. I have no idea if this is really a Titan or not. I don't have a tank for it, but found it interesting.
