and i feed everyday!!!!!!

i have a 75 gallon w/ about 75 lbs of LR a hippo tang, purple tang, two clowns two neon gobies, various snails shrimp & crabs and some corals
its constanly been low, but never 0......
i do have xenia, could that have really helped out? that was the only major change i have had in the tank

it could have helped. some people run xenia in fuges instead of macro algae.

i would think any autotroph (something that makes its own food) would use nitrates.
