ok I spent $130 total on my canopy. This includes 4 fans.
Would it have been cheaper to buy a new canopy?? :notsure:
I still have to test and see if the fans help stop the heating problem. I will find out tomorrow when lights are on all day. Someone mentioned they had fans in the back blowing to front. I hope mines will work. THere are four 4" fans..
anyway, here are some pics:

what do you have for lighting on your tank. i have 2-175 MH'S and 2-96 watt actinic's . i have 2-4" fans, 1 blowing in and the other blowing out, the tank never gets over 81* . $130.00 seems to be a lot to build a canopy, unless you used oak, i payed about $50.00, and used pine.

i have 2x250W MH and 2x54W Actinic.. it gets very hot in there.. yours may work because you have 1 in and 1 out.. i had just 2 blowing in from the back and no where to vent out. so I went and got 2 more. I will see tomorrow if it works. this prvented me from cutting holes in the sides to mount fans.. walmart had awesome fans which hang.. u can see it in the pics.
ya i duno man.. i went to buy wood and it was so expensive..
i didnt even use pine cuz it was more money..
and i got 2 borders to go around the canopy, paint, hinges, etc so it came to 130.. was yours total for everything 50???
what do some of you guys pay?
. you cannot really visualize the canopy in the pics. plus really bad camera..
but in person it looks real nice.. i just feel i could have gotten a new one with that money...
what REALLY sucks is that I payed $700 for my lighting 2 weeks ago (full hood) that is hung from the ceiling...
i stripped the insides of it and mounted to the canopy.. BUT if i went with the canopy from DAY 1, i could have bought the insides for maybe $300 total!.
so all in all, i wish i can turn back time.. i wasted money.. now the original hood is sitting in the garage..
does anyone buy hoods? all you would have to do is mount lights into it...

How is he a hijacker when the thread is about a canopy and mpls showed us how he built his canopy. Hijacking is when the thread gets off topic. BTW, nice canopys both of you.:D
